Keyword research is the process of finding proper keyword and phrases that are commonly used by people to search in search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing. Keyword research impacts every other SEO task. That’s why the keyword research will be the first step of every SEO and promotion works. Keywords are like the compass of your website. It tells you where to go and not to go. So selecting a keyword after conducting research is very important.

How to find Keywords?


List all the available and relevant keywords you know. Then you can use Wikipedia the free web encyclopedia. A gold mine of keywords. Search on Wikipedia using your selected keyphrase. Then you can see a number of keywords listed. Further click on each keyword, then you can see a number of synonyms of your key phrase. Add all these to your keyword list.

Another way to find keywords is the related searches to your key phrase on Google. For example, your keyword is content marketing. Then search these term on Google. Then list all the results related to it. Scroll down to the bottom of the page. Then you can see a large list of related keywords. These are the keyword ideas comes straight from Google. And you can trust these keywords because Google literally tells you that, thousands of people search for these keywords.

Probably there you can see a number of keyword suggestions. Also, you can choose keywords from the natural comments on the comment space.

These are great ways to improve your Keyword list. But never stuck with Google, but always use the strategies of Yahoo and Bing. You can definitely find a keyword without using any tools. But tools make it much easier. Google Keyword Planner is one of the best keyword tools. You can use Keyword Planner because it is the straight result from Google. Like this there exist many tools that you can trust. They are Keyword Surfer, Ubbersuggest, SEMrush, Ahrefs, etc.

How do you understand the competition of your Keyword?


Long-tail keywords are often less competitive. And if you need a keyword that is 100% less competitive then choose a long-tail keyword. Single and two-word keywords are always highly competitive.

How to evaluate keyword competition?


Search for your keyword on Google. Then look at the websites ranking on the first page. If the listed items are highly authorised websites like Wikipedia. Then avoid the keyword from your list. But, if you see a handful of small blogs on the first page then you too have the chance to rank on the first page.

How to choose a keyword?


Unfortunately, there are no tools to tell you that this is the best keyword in your list. You have to manually choose one.
